A Full Life has become a constantly changing exhibition so you will see works added throughout the year until the installation of our new exhibition at the end of 2024.
To honour a life on this planet requires presence and an openness to the world beyond us, but it also requires a reflection on many facets of our life’s history: relationships and friendships that we’ve nurtured, places we have travelled to both locally and abroad, the addition of new family members, meaningful mementos we have acquired, witnessing tender moments, meaningful work we have done and books we have read which have shaped us in one way or another. Perhaps simply having fresh flowers in your home or spending time in nature brings wonder to your days, or being curious about what surrounds us every day: birds, people, the changing of seasons. There are so many ways to bring us closer to the essence of meaning-making in our lives and these are different for each of us.
Over the years, Julia Meintjes Fine Art has worked with many artists who reflect on life and its meaning. This end-of-year exhibition sees us opening up the studio vault and showing works by an array of artists who document and interpret the world around them, contributing visually to the large matrix that is a life.
We are grateful to all of these artists for the delight, solace and wonder we are able to create in our own lives from working with them. Daily we are able to sit in our studio surrounded by works of art that bring pause and contemplation, and we get to share these works through stories that we put together in the form of exhibitions.
We hope this exhibition creates a moment of contemplation to reflect on what delights you, and to see works of art that mirror moments of value and magic in your own life.
